This desk belonged to our customer’s grandfather. As you can see in the picture below, the movers had not been kind when they shipped the piece from Germany. Several pieces were missing. We crafted new pieces to match & replace those that were missing then cleaned & repaired the cracks in the desk. Finally, we custom blended stains for the finish and waxed it all to bring out the beauty of the wood.

Another customer had a smoking cabinet handed down from her grandfather, which evoked happy memories of him when it gave off a familiar tobacco smell. However, he had burned it a few times and dripped lighter fluid, which marred the surface. In addition, the finish had dried to paint flakes and was chipping away a little at a time.
We removed the old finish, repaired the burn marks & chips, and shined up the hardware.

Restorations

Because we build new furniture, we have a deep appreciation of old wood furniture. Many of our customers bring us furniture that has been handed down through their families and, for which they have a deep sentimental value. Often these pieces are crackled, burned, water damaged, moldy, or discolored. They definitely no longer resemble the fine pieces of furniture they once were. We believe that, just because furniture may be older, doesn't mean it has to look old.

The pile of wood pieces in the picture below was a favorite wall unit that our customer had from his college days. While it also needed sanding & refinishing, the main issue with this piece of furniture were the wood worms that had made a home in it. With several weeks of treatment and refinishing, we were able to returned the wall unit to the owner as a beautiful and functional piece of furniture once more.
